This book was quite helpful in getting to know my Kindle Fire HDX. This has been my first tablet and even though I didn't use many of the features because I didn't know about them, I love the tablet. This book helped me love it even more.

This book was written for earlier versions of the Kindle Fire. The illustrations where not helpful at all because the Kindle Fire 5th Generation does not look any thing like them. You can not make the changes to settings or follow many of the directions in this manual, because they can not be done or applied in the new Kindle Fire.I wish the keyboard looked like what was illustrated in this manual (It is more like a standard keyboard) because I would prefer it over what I have on the new Kindle Fire. I wish I could change the font in the E books I read, but you can no long do that. This manual did not cost me anything but I think it should be clearly stated that this manual does NOT cover the 5th Generation. I have leaned how to use my New Kindle Fire by watching U Tube Videos. Some nice people have posted a lot of helpful, clear instruction on the many things that the new Kindle Fire can do.

I purchased the small kindle fire & purchased this book hoping that it would give me the answer on how to clear the first screen with is a page full of children's games. I would like to clear that screen & remove all the games at least from the first screen that displays. The so called home screen is loaded to a fault with multi apps which could be shared on two different windows I would like to make a few useful in place of a crowded page. I had one of the original kindles to read books & thought it would be great to have a small unit that I could also access the internet while on vacation of out without using my smart phone. This little unit is very frustrating because the first screen I see is the kids games. This book is not for the kindle fire generation 5. Very disappointed! All I am asking is that is should not be assumed that this was purchased to play games. I am going to have to call to see if I can find someone to help me with something so simple as this.

I bought a Kindle Fire from Amazon. Knowing nothing about this device, I expected some instructions but none came with it. I had to learn by trial and error what I finally know about the Kindle Fire. For instance, how to turn it on. I didn't realize I'd need to press the "on" button and hold it for several seconds. I had to research this to find out. I would have returned the device simply because it was too foreign for me without instructions but it was too difficult to package it back up. After reading this manual and another that I bought on Amazon, I have learned how to read my books. I don't remember if it was this book or the other on that showed me the most and I am too irritated about the whole experience to research that. My granddaughter came and started using it and she was so excited and loves it. She does so many things that I did not know could be done. Why on earth do instructions not come with the Amazon Kindle Fire???

I am very disappointed with this manual. It is undoubtedly good for explaining what a tablet does, but I already knew that. I bought the Kindle Fire solely for ebooks! What I wanted to know is how to create collections and how to display them, how to delete books, etc, etc. And, when you add the microsd card, does the Kindle Fire automatically add that memory into storage? All the nuts and bolts of doing things with EBOOKS. Not how to add music and send music to the Cloud. I couldn't care less about all that, I have got 3 laptops in this house to take care of music, videos and movies, no I just want to work out how to do things that I can do easily with my Kindle 4s but do them on the Kindle Fire. Nothing like that was explained.

The Pros:1) It's free.2) It's written for both novice users and those who are comfortable using tablets. It makes setting up the Kindle Fire a simple and painless process.The Cons:1) It is a basic manual, so any in depth explorations in how to use the Fire are not covered.2) A very limited selection of recommended apps, which is what I downloaded the guide for.Overall, it's free and it's a quick read.

no instruction booklet ,tried to get thru amazon ?? was unable to find someone to help me , no one knew how to help me .I was passed around from one person that couldn't ,to another who didn't know how . this was a gift from my daughter and for over 1 year it sits unused in my desk. I told my daughter never to buy me any electronics from amazon again.what good is customer service people that don't know what in hell don't know what they are doing

There are several different hiking level categories from easy to hard, with information on each trail and what to look for along the way. It covers local trails within the cities of Phoenix and Glendale, and day trip hikes to nearby parks and conservation centers.

This book gives insightful reviews on difficulty of trials as well as visual scenery. It is acurate in accessibility of trails as well. The author gives a keen insight into what a hiker will experience, and I recommend every avid, or casual explorer, to pick this book up. Phoenix is a hub for many hikes within a decent range, and this book will help select hikes within the ability of the visitor/hiker. Pay attention to the preparation advisories.

This is the best city hiking book I have come across. The writer gives you great insight into each of the hikes and you can tell she has actually been there. I really enjoyed her writing style and appreciated the creative descriptions of the various levels ("easy" to butt kicker"). This book examines how far behind America is in this area. Fibre optics is actually a technology that is decades old, but it caught on seriously in Korea, China, Japan, Singapore and other Asian countries, America did not. Crawford explains why. There are several reasons. One of which is that it requires a great deal of co-ordination and co-operation among the telcos and government. That is the norm in Asia but absent in America. She explains why this is crucial. It is no use having the fibres if you cannot bring them through the last-mile, that is, into the homes of the citizens. This is not happening in America whereas ‘China is installing twenty-thousand last-mile fiber optic connections every single day’. Only 11 million American households out of 126 million are fibre connected… South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore have virtually 100 percent fiber adoption at low prices…’ And that is one key factor – low prices. The problem does not lie with the Asian countries but with America’s own big businesses and telcos. Some seem to be deliberately ignoring the importance of fibre optics by repeating the claim that eventually, everything will be wireless. Crawford dispels this ignorant claim. Wifi cannot work unless the fibres bring the load near enough to its reach – in other words, to the last mile. The problems are manifold and Crawford wraps up all the last bits in the chapter, ‘What Stands in the Way’. As she says, fibre optics alone won’t make an area thrive, but without it, ‘thriving won’t happen’.

Crawford does a great job with explaining why we're missing out when we don't deploy fiber in our communities. Her book addresses the duopoly business models around telco/cable, and how that is being replicated in the mobile service marketplace, and how fiber is a key component of a more competitive future.

In February 2016 i quit my career to figure out a way to make Internet for all feasible. By 2018 I had realized that Internet for all = open access fiber everywhere.
